Snowdon

Snowdon

The highest mountain in Wales and the highest point in the British Isles outside the Scottish Highlands.

Our first challenge this year was to go hiking on the highest mountain in Wales, Snowdon, at an elevation of 1,085 metres. It is the busiest mountain in the United Kingdom and the third most visited attraction in Wales.

We stayed at a lovely campsite, Dolgam Campsite only 30 minutes drive from Snowdon. On a sunny Saturday the hiking routes and car park spaces were packed with tourists. We started the route from Pen-y-Pass Car Park where if you don’t book it online you can’t find any available car park space and the ones nearby on the side of the road are full by 9am so better go early in the morning.

Snowdon

The route is challenging and quite difficult up to the Llyn Lyndaw lake where we had a tea break. There is a separate route from there to Snowdon via Crib Goch which is very difficult. We took the other route instead by the lakes. I think I will need more practice and experience before I will go on Crib Goch route.

The view from the lakes is amazing and just few more minutes to the top.

Snowdon

The views from the top are stunning, breathtaking. On a clear day you can even see Ireland and Isle of Man from up there; I will take some binoculars next time.

When you start the route and look up to the mountain you may think it is impossible but when you finally reach at the top of the third highest mountain in UK, the feeling is amazing, everything is possible if you persevere and deal with tough challenges step by step.

We really enjoyed the views and the landscape and our next challenge is to go on Crib Goch.

See you next time Snowdon!
