Second attempt to see Kinder Scout but the rain and the fog made our hike more challenging.
We started the route from Edale car park (note the ticket machine only works with coins, £6 for up to 10 hours). The car park is quite large with multiple car park spaces but it is popular and it gets busy early in the morning.
It was a raining but we were hoping it will stop around lunchtime. As we started to ascent the wind was getting stronger blowing the rain in our face and the terrain was slippery.
From Kinder Scout trip point we speed up the pace to warm up and by the time we got to Jacob’s Ladder the weather was calmer, the fog started to lift the ground and the rain stopped.
Jacob’s Ladder is quite steep and slippery so take your time to descent and enjoy the scenery.
I would recommend proper boots and waterproof clothes if you are planning to go hiking on a rainy day. We bought really good Scarpa boots from Outside Store. The GTX boots are very durable and reliable in a rainy day and they are keeping you dry even after crossing a riser or walking all day in wet, mud terrain. You can find more option on Outside website https://www.outside.co.uk/brands/p-s/scarpa.html .
We completed our hiking route with a beautiful sunset between the clouds followed by a cup of tea and a smile on our face.
